Install groovy and grails on windows

At first install Java JDK on your pc

Download Java JDK and install on your computer.

Here is an example c drive is my installation directory

Download grails and extract it

Now you need to setup the environment Variable



My Java bin location path “C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_33\bin” which i copy and.
 

  • Open the environment variable under “system variable” press new and write “JAVA_HOME” for variable name and “C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_33” except “\bin” for variable value
  • Now see the  path variable (need to edit) at the end of the line put a  semicolon(;) and write “%JAVA_HOME%\bin”


If your java environment variable setup is ok then open command prompt and write “java -version”. if it return the java version then your environment variable path setup is ok.

Now for Grails environment variable path setup.

My grails path to bin is “H:\grails\bin” which i copied it and
 

  • Open the environment variable under “system variable” press new and write “GRAILS_HOME” for variable name and “H:\grails” except “\bin” for variable value
  • Now see the  path variable (need to edit) at the end of the line put a  semicolon(;) and write “%GRAILS_HOME%\bin”


**Dont put any semicolon(;) at the end of “Path”

Grails need not to be install.

Now open command prompt and write “grails -version”. if it returns the grails version then it ok to use.
